Twinkle, twinkle, little star,

How I wonder what you are!

Up above the world so high,

Like a diamond in the sky

Shiny glittery cold and unfeeling


So close yet so far

Near my fingertips

Like a lover

Yet we always spar

And each time you leave me a scar


No, we don't

We don't spar

I wish we did

I’d throw my poison out rather

Then on you and me


I think they call that an us

There is no us now

It is you

me

and our adultness


I threw you stick

You a marshmallow

Can we make s’mores?

S’more efforts s’more love

Maybe the sweet would counter this bitterness


The bitterness of a fermented rose

Never had much of a green thumb

Wilted things don't magically fix themselves

But you and i don't know how to either


Yet we can try and we will
